My husband and I affectionately call our home the zoo. Between raising 5 boys, having 15 grandchildren and all the animals that have lived with us, well, you can picture the rest! Hence where the name OzO (ZOO) comes from. Plus we liked that it looks like two puppy dog eyes and a nose!
We received my first show Dachshund from Jennifer Crocker at Dachsbau Dachshunds where she has some of the best European/South African lines that you can find; Minard, Ralines, Bronia and Stoneleigh, just to name a few. Jennifer has become a wonderful mentor and friend. I affectionately tell her that she is going to be one of the next greats! Mary Galvan from Manmar Dachshunds has been showing and breeding champion dachshunds for the last 30 years. I have been fortunate to become her friend, and she, another of my mentors. She and I are having so much fun showing and traveling together. She and Jennifer have been good enough to allow me to blend their lines and develop what I think is becoming a beautiful line. Mary has lines from Kokodachs. I must thank Janet Mauldin (Rocksolid) and Gloria LaTour (Hidden Cedars) for being so gracious to help me grade puppies and trusting me with their lines, too. And, Karyn Dionne from Wagsmore has also allowed me to blend her lines with what I have. I bred two gorgeous girls from her Tommy, one is a finished champion and one that will be shown in California.
We do not breed often, and when we do, we breed for our next special show dog. Our dogs are raised in our home with love and lots of attention. We will occassionally have a puppy to sell to a pet home or an established AKC show home. We are members of the Houston Dachshund Club and adhere to their rules and to our standards, which means that all pets are sold on a spay/neuter contract. We reserve the right to choose the homes that our puppies or adults go to and we will not sell to puppy mills, pet stores, or to agents.
We show longhaired miniature Dachshunds in the Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma areas, however, it is not beyond us to venture out further when we want to take a mini vacation. Our home is located in Texas, between Galveston and Houston. Emails are encouraged and welcomed! I love hearing from others that have an interest in the Dachshund, or Dane breed (my first show breed), for that matter. Take care and hope to talk or meet lots of friends in or contemplating getting into the breed! Hope you enjoy visiting my site as much as I do sharing it!
