"Lou Lou"

My husband and I affectionately call our home the zoo. Between raising 5 boys, having 15 grandchildren and all the animals that have been in and out, well, you can picture the rest! Hence where the name OzO comes from. Plus we liked that it looks like two puppy dog eyes and a nose!

I had a Dachshund as a young teen and adored and never forgot him. I also have a ten year old Dachshund pet that runs our house. I raised and showed Great Danes for 15 years and was fortunate enough to have owner handled a Dane in the top 20 for a couple of years, won some national placements, plus co-owned or co-bred several others that were top winners. I acquired my first show Dachshund from Jennifer Crocker at Dachsbau Dachshunds. She drilled me with questions, made me get 6 references from Dane people, and spoke to my vet! I now understand why she had to do that with this breed. Dachshunds, Doxies, Dachs, Weiner dogs, longhaired, miniature Dachshunds, whatever you want to call them are so easy to breed that it is unfortunate that back yard breeders breed these lovely dogs to death to make money. Jennifer has been a wonderful mentor and friend. I affectionately tell her that she is going to be one of the next greats!

We do not breed often, and when we do, we breed for our next special show dog. I learn something new everyday and have been fortunate enough to meet and talk to some of the greats that have steered me in the right direction. This breed is certainly a breed in itself and it takes a mentor with experience and foresight to help achieve a vision that is correct!

I show longhaired miniature Dachshunds in the Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma areas, however, it is not beyond me to venture out further when my husband and I want to take a mini vacation. I live in Texas, between Galveston and Houston. Anyone is welcome to email me. I love hearing from others that have an interest in the Dachshund, or Dane breed, for that matter. I am still a newbie with the Dachshund breed, but I am fortunate to have acquaintances that are much more experienced than I and will be glad to get any questions answered, that I cannot. Take care and hope to talk or meet lots of friends in the breed!
